Day 5 of the 31 Day Program

Day 5 is all about writing an email to a reader. I decided that I would email numerous readers and see if I am able to get some response back. There really isn’t much to explain about this technique. It is pretty straight forward in my opinion. Don’t forget to bookmark this blog. Also, feel free to take a look at all the previous posts as well. You can find them all here.

As always, please let me know your thought on today’s challenge. I would really like to hear from you with your questions, concerns, trials, and errors.

Thanks!

Here is Day 4 of the 31 Day Program

Day 4 is all about taking a look at another blog that is in the same niche as the my own blog. It is really hard to find a blog that is about doing reviews on pretty much everything, so I decided to do a write up on www.johnchow.com.  I have mentioned this site a time or two on my blog already, so maybe you are familiar with his site. If you haven’t had the chance to take a look at John’s site, you can feel free to take a look at it from the link above. You can also take a look at days 1, 2, and 3, by clicking the respective links.

Some topics I wanted to make sure that I touched on, in reference to John’s site are:

Content

Reader Engagement

Design

The content at www.johnchow.com is all about helping you make money with your blog. It focuses alot of its effort into helping you getting setup with adsense and other affiliate programs like that. John also takes the time to help you make some money with Twitter, Facebook, and other websites related to those. He has a great email program that gives you advice and direction every week to learn as much as you can about making money from your website/blog.

John Chow does a great job of getting the reader involved involved in the site. There are many links to information for making money as well as links to other sites to learn from them. John has some of his own companies to help you with monetizing your site/blog, and does a good job of helping you get involved with those companies as well.

Lastly, I wanted to talk about the design of John’s site. I have touched on this particular topic in a previous post which you can find here. Anyways, I like the design of John’s blog. It is well setup for ads and its pretty obvious that he is able to make some money with his design layout. At first I felt like it was overdone and cluttered, but I don’t really feel that way any longer. I have tried to use the same idea on my blog, but have sense decided that I would rather have less ads and more content. Hopefully that will work out well for me in the future.

I really like www.johnchow.com and I am an avid reader. There is an enormous wealth of information on this blog and I learn more and more everyday. It is very clear that he has been doing things right with his blog and that he is trying very hard to teach anyone that wants to learn.

If you would like to find more information about anything that I have written about please don’t hesitate to send me an email or post a comment and I will respond to you as quickly as possible. You can find more about the 31 day program here and here.

31 Days for a Better Blog Day 3

Day 3 of the 31 Days for a Better Blog program is all about promoting the list post from day 2. Darren feels that it is important to promote your blog posts individually, rather than just promoting your blog as a whole. He makes a statement about how it is a common mistake among new bloggers to fail, in a way, because of trying to promote their blogs as a whole rather than promoting individual entries. I can see huge benefits of doing it his way so I’m going to take the time to do that as well. It is important to point out that Darren also makes a point to mention that you shouldn’t promote all your entries in every way you can each time. It would be better to promote your best blog posts to get the highest benefit.

Day 3 gives you a list of 11 different ways that you can promote your blog posts individually. I’m not going to just copy everything Darren took the time to write up on his site and just paste it here. Im going to give you the list of different ways and you can take a look at Darren’s blog when you have the time by clicking here.

1. Pitching Other Bloggers – As the title says… You ask other bloggers to take a look and link back

2. Social Messaging – Use places like Facebook and/or Twitter

3. Social Bookmarking – Same as 2 but with places like Digg or Stumbleupon

4. Internal Links – Linking with other pages on your own site

5. Newsletters – Email list?

6. Other Blogs Comments Sections and Forums – Post it on other sites with the same topic or a relative one

7. Email Signatures – Signatures you use on your emails every day

8. Followup Posts – Make a link to it from a future post

9. Advertise Your Post – Do some paid ads

10. Pitch Mainstream Media – Maybe contact your local news company if its a local topic

11. Article Marketing – Market your article after its re-written

After some time, I figured that I would go ahead and use numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. It will be easy for me to do all of these right away except number 8. Number 8 will have to wait until I do the actual follow up post, which, will obviously have to wait until it has had the time to get around the net and get some feedback.

It seems that the hardest part for people, when it comes to promoting their blog, is being afraid of putting themselves out there. I don’t have a problem with that. I actually kind of look forward to finding out how well each of these tasks end up working out. Please let me know what you think of this topic by writing a comment below. I look forward to your feedback. Questions/concerns are always welcome.

31 Days for a better Blog Day 2

Day two consists of making a list post. A list post is basically a post that is written like the style you see on sites like Digg and Delicious. Darren showed this picture as an example. Below that picture you can see 8 very high quality reasons why list posts are a good idea.

It took me a while to come up with a good idea for a list post, but after some time I finally made a decision. I decided that I would write about the top 5 site I use to learn more about internet marketing. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Top 5 Sites I Get The Most Information From For Marketing:

1:) ProBlogger

I found ProBlogger and started working on Darren Rowse’s 31 day challenge to build a better blog. This is day 2 but day 1 can be found here. I don’t use Darren’s site just for this program. I use his site because he has a wealth of information. Problogger asks that you contribute to their site by a donation of $1.95, which is well worth it considering the benefits of their information.

2:) JohnChow

JohnChow is another site with a lot of information. He gives you the information on how he was able to take his site from nothing to around $40,000 per month. This site has many links to other places that you are able to learn alot from as well.

3:) CopyBlogger

CoppyBlogger is an active community that focuses on copywrighting and content marketing skills.

4:) BloggersForum

BloggersForum is a fairly new blog about, well I’m sure you guessed it, blogging. the community is starting to grow but there is already a large amount of information for beginning bloggers. They are a good place to take a look at.

5:) Google

Google is in here because I end up finding decent sites in reference to internet marketing almost everyday, soley from a google search.

That is my list and I will continue to use all of these sites on a regular basis. They all have tremendous value when it comes to internet marketing and learning how to get your site out there receiving hits as soon as possible.

Please remember to give me your feedback. I love comments and questions. I would also like to know what sites everyone else uses.

31 Days for a Better Blog Day 1

Day 1 is all about making an “elevator pitch“. An elevator pitch is, basically, a short description of what your blog is and why people should read it.  It is supposed to be something that you can say completely in the term of an elevator ride. Hence the name…

Pitch:

All Products Reviewed is a blog dedicated to bringing our readers the latest high quality reviews of products all over the world.”

This is exactly what this blog is about. We review everything from websites and blogs all the way to art, ebooks, and cell phones.

Please stay posted for day 2!
